Belief

Belief

While studying the New and Old Testament in my Master’s level classes I have discovered that embracing the idea of a God that would set the slaves free was a very desirable belief in those times. After all, these people were slaves and had little hope for freedom.

Now,our individualistic culture believes that we need nothing but ourselves. We think we can do it all on our own. No wonder the majority of the population does not appear to be searching for God. We have become so self reliant that we don’t believe that God is needed. That is until we realize we do not have control over everything and that God is truly in charge and is the only way to be fulfilled in this life or any other life.

So many people believe that we do it all on our own. How is that possible? How did we create ourselves, teach us to love and to love others? We didn’t do those things God did. God exists not for my sanity or for me to be comfortable with answers. God exists because God exists.

I am blessed to have a personal relationship with God. I know that being self reliant, not seeking God’s guidance, help, relationship or giving God the glory is a sin. To give God all the glory, trust and love that I have is how I should react to God’s infinite blessings in my life. Regardless, of if we embrace God, have faith or believe in God; God still remains and nothing we can do or say will ever change that fact. I don’t have to need God for him to exist because He already does.

When you allow yourself to realize you can’t do it all on your own and you give your life to God everything changes. The stress falls, the love is felt more deeply and our focus of this life is changed to compassion and love.
