1st Day of School, August 14, 2017 Daily Reflection

My Classroom

And away we go…today is the first day of the 2017 Holy Cross school year! I have met my students and I like them!! It’s time to teach them about the sacraments of the Catholic Church, Christian Morality, about ethics, what is right and wrong, and about faith. I pride myself in teaching the content of the courses but my focus is always on their faith journey. I want to bring them closer to God in their prayer life, and normal daily life. I am very excited to introduce them to creative prayers and my meditations. Teaching is a difficult job, long hours, lots of grading, but it is also so energizing and rewarding. The energy given to me by my students is amazing. I teach them but they also teach me. The most important part of my career is spent giving them the tools to love, God, themselves, others and God’s creation. The best way to do that is to be a living example of the faith. I must love them each unconditionally, set expectations for them, forgive, and treat them as Jesus Christ treats me. It is a challenge but with the grace of God I can do anything.

Please say a prayer for me and my students. That we both grow closer to God through this school year. Thanks!!
