Angel Tree

Angel Tree

One of my students made this angel tree. We each received an angel and wrote the name of a loved on it. We hung them on the tree to remember them. Then we all said a prayer for the angels as well as the families they left behind.

I always feel so bad for those who have lost loved ones in their lives, especially during the holidays. I can’t imagine how it must feel to survive that first set of holidays without the one you love most in the world. Everything must change; the traditions, the sounds in the house, the gift giving, the company, and just the feeling that surrounds a time that is meant to be joyful.

My heart goes out to each one of you who has to endure this Christmas without a loved one. There is nothing that will truly help you except to get through it. I am not naive enough to believe knowing that your loved one is in heaven helps, because you want them here with you. But I am going to put this out there anyway, there are many angels in heaven that wrap their warmth around the family they have left behind. My mother in law has seen it in the most delicate angel feathers over the years. Others have seen in it when watching cardinals land on the snow covered yard. Some have just sensed a presence that brought peace and harmony.

Nothing will bring complete healing because the loss is permanent but signs, feelings, and knowing there will be a time that you will see that angel one day in heaven hopefully makes it easier to bear the pain. Know that my prayers are with you this holiday season, and that your angel is looking after you from heaven.
