Be Present, July 17, 2018 Daily Reflection

We have these expectations that we place upon ourselves for different situations. With some people we feel we need to be witty and intelligent. With others we know we should use humor to amuse them. Sometimes we feel that we must try our hardest to sway another’s opinion. Still other times we feel like it is our responsibility to make another happy.

The truth is God calls us to love. The most loving action we can perform is to be present to another person. To simply sit with them, to hold their hand, to listen without judgement or expectations, without trying to make them laugh or change their opinion. Simply being present, is loving another. It seems to easy but believe me it can be the most difficult way to love in this solution driven society. Today, try to simply be with another person to love them.
