Spencer reading at the Christmas Program

Spencer reading at the Christmas Program

It has been so long since St. Bernard has had a “Christmas Program” about the Biblical Christmas. The music teacher did a wonderful job. She had each grade level dress as a part in the nativity story; there were shepherds, animals, angels, and a Mary and Joseph. There were hand bells, maracas, and tambourines. Each class entered the Church at different times, yes, they had it in the church at long last! The eighth graders took turns reading from the Gospel. There were songs for each class to sing about the Christmas story.

Spencer, my 8th grader, for the first time in his entire life stood up and read part of the story to the entire church. His voice sounded so grown up. He did an excellent job! Jake, my 6th grader, sang “Silent Night” in Spanish. It was beautiful. The entire production had me smiling from the moment it began to the end. I made sure to tell the music teacher what an excellent job she did. It has truly enlivened the Christmas spirit in me.
