College for my Oldest Child, September 9, 2016 Daily Reflection

Me and Ethan

Me and Ethan

Last night I attended Senior Night for my oldest child. Yes, my child is no longer a child. The president of the school quoted, Tracy Adkins song “You’re going to miss this” and emphasized how important it is to savor every moment of this year. I think he assumes that the majority of the students will go away to college. Luckily, not my son. He is a homebody, and wants to stay in town. I received tons of information about how to apply for college, deadlines, scholarships, and the process of it all. It is a bit overwhelming! One of the most overwhelming parts is that my oldest child who I remember holding as a new born baby is getting closer to entering an adult world of independence.

I am so proud of the young man he has become. His is a hard worker, polite, intelligent, faith filled, and an excellent friend. I just can’t believe this is his last year in the Catholic Education System. How did this happen? I will keep raising him and letting him go all at the same time. More than anything I will keep praying with him and for him daily. God got us to this point and will bring us through it all. It’s just hard to believe my Ethan is exploring college!
