Within each stage of my prayer development my attitude towards life evolved. “When I was a child, I used to talk as a child, think as a child, reason as a child; when I became a man, I put aside childish things. At present we see indistinctly, a in a mirror, but then face to face. At present I know partially; then I shall know fully, as I am fully known” (1 Corinthians 13:11-12). I spoke as a child, when my prayers were at God, but I have never lost that conversation with God. I speak to him daily. “At present we see indistinctly…” the more we journey in our faith life the more God reveals to us about our spirituality. “Then I shall know fully, as I am fully known” glimpse by glimpse, experience after experience God allows me to know him more fully, when I am able to listen, and in turn I understand who I am in the reflection of who he is. When I began to listen and look for God in everyday life I realized he was already shining through my life with his love.

I am here for a greater purpose; to bring people closer to God in all that I do. I came to the understanding that it is not about my wants but about where God wants me. It is no longer about my will but the will of God; “After withdrawing about a stone’s throw from them and kneeling, he prayed, saying, ‘Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me; still, not my will but yours be done.’[And to strengthen him an angel from heaven appeared to him]” (Luke 22:41-43). Jesus Christ, the son of God, illustrated the importance of prayer throughout the entire Gospel. The humanity of Jesus Christ enables us to embrace our own weakness yet, with prayer we are strengthened by God’s presence to overcome our own selfish wants and needs. In my opinion the ultimate summit of prayer would be to not only simply recognize God’s presence in the world but to also become God’s presence in the world.
