God Alone
Do not love the world or the things in the world.
If anyone loves the world, love for the Father[a] is not in them.
16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17
The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
First John 2:15-17
It is so easy to get caught up in the things of the world. Advertising agency are excellent in eliciting desires for things. However, these things do not fill the needs in our souls, only God’s love can do that. When we seek the love of God and take it into our lives then we give it away to others, and it is in the giving that the needs of our souls are filled. When we give of our time, talent, treasure, emotions, intelligence, and goodness, we are fulfilling the purpose of our lives. God wants us to love ourselves, others, nature, and God.
Today, consider how you can love others instead of things.
