Epiphany of the Lord, Sunday Tidbit January , 2017

My nativity

My nativity

When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of King Herod, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star at its rising and have come to do him homage.” Matthew 2: 1-4

I am not a scripture scholar but I think that there are great similarities in the story of the Epiphany and followers of today. The Magi were being guided by a star and searching out the savior of the world. Humanity is constantly seeking a higher being, guided by a pure spark from within. Like the magi they were from different cultures and places. Humanity comes from all ends of the earth to discover Jesus Christ. King Herod advised them to go a different route and yet the magi ignored this statement. In today’s world there are lots of voices telling those who seek the Lord to go a different way because it is not popular to be a Christian. Yet, those true believers do what it takes to find Jesus Christ.

Today, is the Epiphany of the Lord and we should rejoice in knowing this and continue to seek Jesus Christ everywhere in our lives.
