God sets before us…Sunday Tidbit February 12, 2017

Open Hands

If you choose you can keep the commandments, they will save you;
if you trust in God, you too shall live;
he has set before you fire and water
to whichever you choose, stretch forth your hand.
Before man are life and death, good and evil,
whichever he chooses shall be given him.
Sirach 15:15-16

God gives us the choice. Before us he sets the possibility to do good or to do evil. We can choose to live a life of selfish ambition, collecting, hoarding, and stepping on others to get to a place of power and fame. Or we can live a selfless life, constantly giving to others, providing for their needs, listening, understanding, and loving (willing the good of the other) others. God has given us the free will to choose with our intellect, past experience, and understanding of God and humanity. Yet, some still choose the evil. Each have some type of payback, sometimes pleasure many times in the long run deep pain. Regardless God allows us to decide on our own free from any command.

What have you chosen? What do you want to choose? Prayerfully consider your choices in each situation.
