It was 1994…February 7, 2013 Daily Reflection

My roses from my husband

It was 1994 a few days after the snow storm. He called me and asked if I wanted to go for a drive. It wasn’t a date I made that clear. But I knew as soon as I got into the little Rabbit GTI and saw the smile on his face it was a date.  We drove to DQ and had a strawberry shake and went to a park with a pond and watched the moonlight bounce off the wings of the geese floating by. He drove that GTI as I told him all I could think of that would scare him away. I told him about family, friends, secrets and my faith. I was comfortable and he was accepting. He dropped me off that night and I had no doubt Aaron would be my husband someday. That first date happened 19 years ago.

We built a relationship of trust, respect, love and fun. We were married and accepted 4 beautiful, kind, caring children from God. Now we are a family. We are all grown up figuring out life as we go. The Rabbit GTI has been gone for years and I can’t remember the last time we enjoyed a strawberry shake together but we are comfortable, accepting and still madly in love with each other. Saying yes that January Sunday was the best thing I ever did…it started in motion our family. I thank God for Aaron every day of my life.

Nineteen years later he came home from work with that same smile on his face, that he had when I got in his car, and he handed me these beautiful roses. God blessed me beyond belief and I will be eternally grateful.
