Jake’s first piano lesson

We have begun a new venture in my family. Jake and Anna have started to take piano lessons from my sweet Aunt Mary Kay. Last week was the first lesson. I know nothing about musical instruments at all. I enjoyed sitting in the room as she gave each one of them their first piano lesson. I listened as she told them in a very kind and age appropriate way “it takes time to learn something new. The more you practice the better you will become”.

It takes time to learn something new. The more you practice the better you will become. This is a lesson we should all take to heart. We have been told this all of our lives. Yet, sometimes we quit because in the beginning it is just too hard. We attempt running but we are out of breath so we quit. We attempt to eat healthy but then we are tempted by fried foods so we quit. We attempt a new hobby but it is too complex so we quit.

We have to get through the difficult part of anything we want to learn in life to ever reap the rewards. If you stick with running your body will become conditioned and you will be amazed at how good you feel. If you stick with healthy eating habits and diet you will give your body the great reward of living healthy. If you stick with a new hobby it will open your mind. We need to have determination and perseverance.

I don’t know if Jake or Anna will play the piano for more than one season. Maybe one of them will love it and play it for a lifetime. What I do know is if they listen, practice and work hard one day they are going to make music from their own two hands and they will hear their reward.
