It is amazing that God would want to dwell among us. He gave his son to us so we can understand and relate to his love and presence in our world. I tell my students constantly that we are a sensual people, meaning we use our senses because we are human. God knew this and sent his son so that we could use our senses to physically understand Jesus Christ. God took on flesh and then we began to understand. We will never truly comprehend Jesus Christ or God’s unconditional love for us because we are human. However, by faith we accept Jesus Christ as the son of God, sent to us to give us salvation; to bring us into a deeper relationship with God. If only we could live like Jesus Christ and love all people, opening those who are deaf to the sound of God, raising those who have fallen asleep in their faith, healing those who have no hope in God, exercising the demons of materialism and individualism out of their souls. God can do all of these things. We are here to be instruments and vessels for God’s hands on this earth. We are not just to be like Jesus Christ but to put on the heart of Christ and live that love in the world.
