Last Sunday I asked the kids which park was their favorite out of all the parks we have ever been to. Anna came up with the winner it is actually a playground of a public school we had visited 2 years ago. So off we went on a quest to find it. I did not know the name of the school only the general area. It took us 30 minutes but we found it. We all filed out of the van and once the playground was spotted it was a sprint to the fun. They climbed, jumped, slid, spun on the tire swings and explored. Running about like kids on Christmas morning so full of joy going back to a place that in their memory was actually just as good in real life if not a little better. Look at the sky in the picture. The sky was so blue and the clouds so puffy it was as though it was taken from a picture book and placed there. I played tag with them breathless, they are fast, and laughed and shouted and lost myself in the moment with my precious children. Sharing the freedom of playing, if only for a little while, we played together.
Sometime this weekend make the time to find a playground your child chooses and actually play for a little while. I know you don’t have the time to do it, neither do I. But make the time to do it. We make the time for the important things like eating, cleaning, working, homework. Today or tomorrow make the time to play somewhere special with your child. Then your child will show you how to play again and enjoy it because it is simply, pure, innocent FUN.
