Prayer of St. Patrick, May 23, 2017 Daily Reflection

“Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.” – St. Patrick

This passage opens my mind, frees my spirit, and moves me emotionally. As a little girl I felt this way. In the chaos of life as an adult I am in awe when I have the time to take in the presence of Christ in this way. I know in my soul that this never changes. What changes is my awareness, and availability to slow down and allow this realization to sweep through and over my being. In the reading of this passage I do just that. Take a moment to read this a few times slowly and allow the Holy Spirit to render you motionless and allow God to cover you in His presence.
