Jake pulling on a branch

I told Jake to stop when I spotted him pulling on this branch. I am not sure why he was pulling on it? Maybe he was trying to find out how strong he was; possibly he wanted to remove the branch because he didn’t like the way it looked or maybe he just wanted the branch for himself? Maybe he just pulled on the branch because he is a curious kid and just wanted to for the sake of pulling.

As adults we find ourselves constantly tugging, pulling, pushing and shoving things daily. As parents we are pulling our children to be the best they can be. As workers we are pulling new ideas to make our work more functional, lucrative and advantageous for us and our companies. As spouses we are pulling our spouses to be closer to us. As human beings we are pulling and pushing ourselves to be the best we can be in this life.

However, many times in life we find ourselves pulling on branches for selfish reasons, we want to assert our control, we don’t like the way it looks or we want to own it. Pulling and pushing can be good when done for the greater good. As humans sometimes like children we have a curiosity that tempts us to bother things that are better left untouched. The next time you find yourself in a struggle pulling at something that will not give determine if you are doing it for the greater good or for your own gain.
