Spencer colored this picture for me because he knows that my favorite site in nature is of the sunset. He knows that the sun setting over the ocean makes me smile, although I have not witnessed it in 5 years, it’s been a long time since we have had a vacation to the ocean.
Our children bring us noise, clutter, messes, perplexing problems, anxiety, fear, embarrassment and many other feelings in life that are not great. However, when we look for it they bring us simplicity, kindness, gentle hugs, sweet kisses, precious smiles, whispering voices, innocent pondering, untold joy and a peace that no one else but God and our children can give to us as parents.
Today, on this Saturday listen for the joy, look for precious smiles and be open to all the little gifts of love they extend to us this day, smile and say thank you. Truly treasure the next picture they give to you because I think as parents we forget how hard and long they work on a piece of art with one goal in mind to make us smile!
