Mindfulness is all about being present in the here and now. We dream about the future or remember the past but we have difficulty simply existing in the present. It takes a change of mindset to be. I am learning daily how to simply be. Use your senses. Feel the temperature of the room, see what is around you, smell the scents, feel your feet upon the ground, come back to your body, your breathing. Breathing is a basic place to start and end with presence. Breathing is a consistent action of our bodies and gives us the ability to feel air and movement in many places. When we can feel, hear, smell, and see we can be right where we are right now in this moment. Once this becomes a practice it becomes easier to be present to ourselves and others.
