The willow weeps for humanity

Its wispy branches droop to the grass below

Flutter as they may in the slightest winds

They cannot stretch to the skies, sun, or moon

It’s destiny is to reach the ground below

Hiding within its presence the core of its being

It exists simply as a tree

It’s beauty like the artwork of God recognized by many

It’s sadness known to all

Why does the willow weep?

It weeps for what it has witnessed through the neglect of creation

For the people who have died in vain

For the animals misplaced by the over development of humanity

Due to the selfishness of the human race

What has the willow seen, witnessed, and felt?

Will the willow’s weeping touch our souls and change our paths?

Perhaps, that is why the willow weeps?
