My work space for writing – one part of my work

Get ready. Go to work. Work, work, work, meetings, deadlines, headaches, people complaining, stress mounting, anxiety building, phones ringing, emails sending, finally quitting time, traffic, hunger and home. Oh, home sweet home. It can be messy and loud with children but it is home a haven from the work, a release from the stress, a place to get hugs, love, acceptance and dinner. The next day we do it all over again.

Work is not always easy. Some jobs are easy. Some jobs are painful physically, mentally and emotionally. Many careers are stressful, challenging and all consuming. So many of us have worked diligently to finish our education and become a part of the endless cycle of work. Thousands of us are unhappy with our work but we keep on keeping on. Why; because without the work we would not have a Home Sweet Home to go to at the end of the day. Without the work we could not support a family, raise our children, put food on the table and pay the mortgage or rent. Without the work we would not have the means to go on vacation, to ride bikes in a park, to swim at a pool in the summer time, to provide an excellent education for our own children.  Work is a necessary means to live a good life in our society.

My youngest child often says “Wouldn’t it be great if everything were free.”  But it’s not so we get ready and go to work every day. Today, remember why you do it, who you do it for and Thank God that you have a job to go to when so many are searching for work.
