Many of us find it difficult to discern those gifts and the best way to use them. I have been reading in my course work about discernment. I came across a poet who was approached by a budding poet who had been rejected many times (it sounded so familiar). He asked the young poet to think about the following questions: If you could not write would you\u00a0die? Must you write?<\/p>\n<p>My answer was Yes, I must write. I can&#8217;t think of a time in life when I did not write daily since third grade, when I wrote my first poem and fell in love with writing. Why do I write?<br \/>\nTo express my thoughts<br \/>\nTo organize my ideas<br \/>\nTo remember<br \/>\nTo renew my soul<br \/>\nTo understand my motives<br \/>\nTo reveal my inner self<br \/>\nTo move others closer to God<br \/>\nTo love<br \/>\nTo accept<br \/>\nTo give<br \/>\nTo open myself<br \/>\nTo receive<br \/>\nTo process information<br \/>\nTo create<br \/>\nTo be authentically who I am<br \/>\nTo give back to God<br \/>\nTo center myself<br \/>\nTo find, discover, and seek God<br \/>\nTo reach out to self, others, God, future generations<br \/>\nTo comfort<br \/>\nTo infuriate<br \/>\nTo ruffle feathers<br \/>\nTo inspire<br \/>\nTo breathe<br \/>\nTo live<br \/>\nTo be who God created me to be.<\/p>\n<p>Reflect on the gifts that God has given you. Which gifts could you not live without? What gifts MUST you use?
