Throughout my high school and college years I did read some of the classics. Now, as a mom of 4, full time teacher\/Service Coordinator, student earning a Master&#8217;s Degree, writer, etc&#8230;I still want to read the classics. The problem I have is exhaustion. I sit down to read and once I am finally able to sit still for longer than 20 minutes I fall asleep. I run everyday and over the summer I started the practice of listening to podcasts of TED talks, BBC podcasts, and Archbishop Robert Barron. I depleted every TED Radio hour podcast as well as every Father Robert Barron episode. They only come out with a new one once a week. Then it dawned on me I could listen to classic books on podcasts!! I listened to &#8220;The Diary of Eve&#8221; by Mark Twain it was hilarious. I listened to &#8220;Anne of Green Gables&#8221; by Lucy Maud Montegomery is was breathe taking, I could picture every setting. I just finished &#8220;Jane Eyre&#8221; by Charolette Bronte, read by Elizabeth Klett, it was unbelievable! I listen to it when I run daily, every time I am driving to and from work and whenever I am by myself in the van. I adore the language, the ideas, the characters, and the plots. Tomorrow I start &#8220;Wuthering Heights&#8221; by Emile Bronte. I can&#8217;t wait to get lost in a new classic.<\/p>\n<p>I highly suggest listening to the recordings on Librivox recordings. They are very well done and the readers have fabulous accents, and expressions. I know it would probably be best if I could read these masterpieces but listening only takes me about 10 days as opposed to 2 months. I have always enjoyed listening to stories.
