<\/a>Good Friday<\/p><\/div>\n
He Looked At Me<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n There, hung upon a wooden cross<\/p>\n He looks down at me,<\/p>\n Not down on me<\/p>\n But into my eyes.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n His eyes blurred with the sweat and blood from the thorns that pierced his head,<\/p>\n Fatigued from loss of life<\/p>\n and<\/p>\n In excruciating pain,<\/p>\n He looked at me.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n His hands open, His raw and naked body exposed for all to see,<\/p>\n He looked at me.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In pure anguish,<\/p>\n He looked at me.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Into my soul His brown eyes penetrated my very being at the center of all that I am<\/p>\n and<\/p>\n He spoke not an audible word<\/p>\n but<\/p>\n I heard everything in His eyes.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n There mixed with sweat and pain He was open<\/p>\n To love,<\/p>\n To hurt,<\/p>\n To all who would rebuke Him<\/p>\n For centuries to come.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n He was not just open to those women, who wept<\/p>\n and<\/p>\n Wailed for their children,<\/p>\n but<\/p>\n Also for the soldiers<\/p>\n That hung Him upon this wooden cross,<\/p>\n Perpetrated this human death.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n His eyes showed me only<\/p>\n Compassion,<\/p>\n Empathy,<\/p>\n Forgiveness,<\/p>\n and<\/p>\n Understanding<\/p>\n For those who physically tortured<\/p>\n and<\/p>\n Killed Him.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n He held only love in the agony<\/p>\n and<\/p>\n Then we all heard Him<\/p>\n Give up His spirit to God.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Death to the Son of God,<\/p>\n Real death upon a tree,<\/p>\n The death penalty for God.<\/p>\n He died right there before my eyes.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n But before He closed His eyes to this world, I locked eyes with His<\/p>\n and<\/p>\n He read my soul and gave me the opportunity to love Him.<\/strong><\/p>\n This I do every time I forgive another,<\/strong><\/p>\n Anytime I love unconditionally,<\/strong><\/p>\n Every time I witness God’s love in another person.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/strong><\/p>\n I locked eyes with Jesus Christ upon that cross in Calvary today<\/p>\n and<\/p>\n He loved me from across the centuries<\/p>\n and<\/p>\n Across the heavens right here<\/p>\n and<\/p>\n Now into my soul.<\/p>\n He looked at me.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" This is my most inspired piece I have ever written.
