Love of Learning

Yesterday, I listened to a podcast about passion vs. curiosity. The person being interviewed spoke about the importance of realizing there is no ONE PASSION in life. That it can be damaging to believe we only have ONE passion. If we believe there is only ONE passion and we can’t seem to find it then we are discouraged. If we find ONE passion and believe we are finished we have lost an entire lifetime of discovery. Over the course of our lives we will change and grow in many different ways. These changes lead to different interests and curiosities. She encouraged following our curiosities. She believes that if we explore our curiosities it will lead us to many different passions. Following our curiosities will also lead us to exploring interests that are not as interesting as we once thought they might be. Either way it is worth taking the time to figure that out. Her practical application was to take 15 minutes each day to explore a different curiosity. Do some research and think outside of your normal “passion” and see where it leads you.

I really like this idea. If we take something we are interested in and do a little research, it will enhance and enrich our lives just a bit. If we do it every day just think of all the different things we can learn. I am going to make a list of my curiosities and attempt a bit of research daily. I encourage you to do the same. You never know where this may lead…
